Around for the past month, the sewerage system of most areas has been lying collapsed and dirty water can be seen accumulated on roads. The major reason behind this is that desilting of drains and road gullies has not been done.

Most areas in the city are a picture of neglect and officials are unaware of reason behind this condition. The MCB is flooded with complaints of sewage overflow from many areas and a large number of them have not been resolved.

Irked over the sewerage overflow complaints, MCB Commissioner Dr Rishipal Singh on Thursday held a meeting with Mayor Balwant Rai Nath, MCB officials, sewerage board officials over this issue and he instructed them to find the reason behind this and even he directed them to resolve sewage overflow problems in the city at the earliest.

He was irked that this is the condition before the rains and monsoon is on the heads. He lashed out at MCB officials for not doing their duty properly. MCB officials also told that sewerage maintainace work is of sewerage board.

It is pertinent to mention that sewerage maintenance work is the responsibility of the sewerage board and it gets this work done from the Triveni Company. MCB every year gives Rs 6 crore to the sewerage board for maintaining the sewerage system in the city, but despite spending this amount the sewerage system is at its worst in the city.

Sewerage water has been accumulated in various areas and residents are highly affected due to this.

Councilor from ward number 20, Darshan Billu is complaining about accumulation of sewerage water in Basant Vihar, while councilor from ward number 39 Gurbachan Singh is also repeatedly complaining about sewerage overflow in his areas to MCB officials, but despite this problem has not been resolved. Councilors are claiming that there is no coordination between MCB, Sewerage board and Triveni Company as all of them are passing the buck on each other.

Mayor Balwant Rai Nath said he had gone in the meeting and had directed the XEN sewerage board to find out why the sewerage is overflowing in the city as all the motors of main disposals are running from last few days but despite this the sewerage is overflowing in the city.

An MCB official pleading anonymity said this was the work of sewerage board and Triveni company, MCB workers could do as they even did not have proper equipment.
