Powercom staff continue protest

BATHINDA: Demanding their salary on time, members of the Powercom Employees’ Forum have been protesting for the past three days in Sirki Bazaar.

Bathinda: Demanding their salary on time, members of the Powercom Employees’ Forum have been protesting for the past three days in Sirki Bazaar. On Wednesday, they raised slogans against the state government. Ram Lal, president of the union, said, “We have not received salaries for the past two months. Besides, dearness allowance for 23 months has also not been cleared by the government. Our payroll is prepared on 15th of every month, but the department is not depositing the salary in our accounts on time. The department and the state government have deliberately stopped disbursing the salary of the employees.” The protesters alleged that despite an assurance given by Powercom officials to resolve their issues on the first day of the protest, nothing concrete had been done. Thereafter, they decided to continue the agitation in the coming days as well. The protesters also demanded the implementation of 6th pay commission recommendations. They threatened to intensify their protest in the coming days if their demands were not met. TNS
