Alarmed over the misuse of drones following smuggling of arms and ammunition with the help of drones by anti-national elements in Pakistan recently, the district administration has banned the use of drones over and near Guru Gobind Singh(GGS) Refinery in the district.

The orders have been issued under Section 144 of the CrPC by ADC Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu using magistrate powers and these orders will remain in force till January 28. If anyone was found using drones and violating the orders, appropriate action would be taken against him.

Even after the incidents of drone infiltration from across the border to drop weapons in Tarn Taran district reported in the state some time back, IGP Bathinda range Arun Kumar Mittal, Bathinda SSP Nanak Singh along with IAF officials also reviewed the security of Guru Gobind Singh Refinery.

It is also pertinent to mention that earlier this year a drone-like object was seen flying over Guru Gobind Singh Refinery. A complaint was also lodged by the refinery management to the district and police administration regarding this, but police did not find anything during the probe.
