Annual day celebrated

Patiala: Budha Dal Public School celebrated its annual day, “Gracias”.



Patiala: Budha Dal Public School celebrated its annual day, “Gracias”. The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by the rendition of shabad. Tiny tots of the preparatory wing swept the audience with their adorable moves. The stage illuminated with the colourful and musical spectrum of festivals wherein students of the junior wing presented Holi, Baisakhi and Eid. Props and costumes added colour to the occasion which synchronised with dance movements to foot-tapping numbers. English play ‘Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens was also staged. The chief guest distributed prizes among meritorious students. School magazine ‘Cornocopia’ was also released on the occasion.

Grandparents’ Day celebrations

To honour grandparents, the primary wing of Blossoms Senior Secondary School organised a colourful cultural bonanza on Grandparents Day here on Tuesday. The function began with a devotional song followed by dance performance on “Jungle Song” by the nursery wing. The highlight of the programme was a traditional Punjabi wedding in which all pre-wedding rituals were shown by students. Students enthralled the grandparents by dancing to the tune of Punjabi folk songs. Trustees Sant Chahal, Ravi Singh and principal Bindu Vaid gave away academic prizes of session 2017-18 to students. Appointed

Patiala: Following the reallocation of important duties at Punjabi University, officials on Tuesday appointed a professor in-charge (finance). Dr Rakesh Kumar, professor at the Department of Economics, has been appointed for the post after it remained vacant for two months. Vice-Chancellor Prof BS Ghuman also appointed Dr Rakesh Mohan Sharma, Professor at the Department of Forensic Science, as the Director, Planning and Monitoring. Dr Sharma will replace Dr Balwinder Singh Tiwana, who was appointed the Controller of Examinations on Monday. Dr Devinder Kumar Singla, Professor at the Department of Law, has been given the additional charge of Professor in-charge, Mahgaraja Aggrasen Chair, which was earlier held by Dr Jaspal Kaur Dhanju.
