Kharar, August 11
Seriousness of the Department of Local Government, Punjab, can be gauged from the fact that in the past a year-and-a-half, the Kharar municipal council has witnessed frequent shifting of its executive officer (EO), hitting various development works in the town.
These transfers took place at a time when local residents are crying for basic amenities and over 200 unauthorised colonies have come up in the town.
On January 9, Sukhjinder Singh Sidhu was shifted from the Kharar civic body after serving here for more than four years. During his tenure, Harjeet Singh was appointed as the Additional Executive Officer. He served from November 17, 2016, to June 2, 2017.
After this, Kulbhushan Goyal joined the local civic body as the Executive Officer on January 9, 2017. He was replaced by Sandeep Tiwari on June 5, 2017. He served till June June 4, 2018.
As he remained on leave, Rajesh Sharma was given the additional charge of Kharar MC Executive officer on May 17, 2018. Sharma worked here till June 4, 2018.
Later, Varinder Jain, who is posted at Nayagaon, was given the additional charge of the Kharar municipal council on June 4, 2018.
