Patiala, July 14
Medical and dental teachers working under the Punjab Government have urged the Punjab Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, for time-bound promotions.
The teachers said if the orders of the Health Ministry was implemented in state-run medical and dental colleges, it would result in decline in court cases for promotions and would automatically lead to the increase in number of senior faculty and more post graduation seats. Moreover, it will boost the morale of the faculty waiting for promotions since years. They urged the Chief Minster and Medical Education Minister Brahm Mohindra to take up the matter on priority and call a meeting of the association to discuss the matter.
DS Bhullar, general secretary, Punjab State Medical and Dental Teachers' Association, said, "Time-bound promotions or re-designation is a long-pending demand of the medical and dental faculty working under state government but was being ignored by the successive state governments." — TNS
