Panchkula, December 7

A month after a woman journalist was robbed of her car at gunpoint, the local police are clueless about the carjackers.

The cyber cell of the Panchkula police had procured the mobile dump of areas from the Housing Board Chowk to the Sector 20 light point and some areas around Zirakpur.

According to the police, Jagsir Singh, the kingpin of a gang that is suspected to be involved in the incident, was a drug addict. After allegedly looting the car, the gang would plan another major robbery to purchase drugs, the police added.

On the intervening night of November 8 and 9, a white Tata Indigo with switched-off headlights had rammed into a Hyundai i20 car of the victim, Damini, at the Amartex Chowk. The scribe was returning home from her office when the incident took place. As she came out to check for any damage, three men came out of the Indigo car and two of them pointed guns at her before taking away her car. A bag containing important documents, cash and cards was also lying in the car.

Crime Branch incharge Inspector Aman Kumar said raids were being conducted in Punjab and Haryana at the possible hideouts of the Seera gang, headed by Jagsir Singh. He said raids were also being conducted at Jagsir’s three hideouts, including a flat in Ludhiana.
