Parents, teachers allege misuse of funds by principal

PATIALA:Members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Government State College on Tuesday alleged that the principal-cum-president had misused the funds of the association.

Patiala, October 16

Members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Government State College on Tuesday alleged that the principal-cum-president had misused the funds of the association.

The senior vice-president and other members of the PTA have accused principal Rajkumari of misusing the funds. Teachers said a new executive committee for the session 2018-19 was formed on September 17 in the presence of parents and teachers. PTA officials claimed that the principal was also present in the meeting, but she did not sign the proceedings.

Jasbir Singh, father of a BEd student, said, “Funds are brazenly being misused by the president-cum-principal. Around Rs 7,900 was collected from each student, but there is no information on how much amount was collected.”

Prof Satish Kumar, who claims to be a member of the association, alleged, “Last month, the principal got a split air-conditioner installed in her office without the consent of the executive members.”

However, denying the allegations, principal Rajkumari said, “PTA elections never happened and no meetings took place in this regard.” When asked about the misuse of PTA funds, she refused to comment.

Tarsem Kumar, general secretary of the association, said, “A total of Rs 5,500 was reportedly collected from each student for the appointment of guest faculty, but the college doesn’t have a computer teacher and Hindi teacher for the past one year.”
