It’s been three weeks since 20-year-old Aditya Kumar, a resident of Yamunanagar, went missing from Zirakpur on June 22. Anil Kumar (47), father of Aditya, is still in the dark about his son’s whereabouts.

While the police have been of little help, no one from the district administration has come forward to help in the investigation.

The police have already registered a kidnapping case against four persons on the statement of the victim’s father but made little progress in identifying the suspects or figuring out what transpired on the day when Aditya went missing.

Aditya’s father, who works as a security guard, had come all the way from his native place, Yamunanagar in search of his missing son and has been waging a lone battle. Sweating profusely, he has been running from the pillar to post for speedy investigation.

Anil, along with his relatives, has been staying on a temple premises, situated near the police station, for the past 10 days.

“The police have assured us of tracing him but it has been two weeks since he went missing. How long can we wait? I am still hopeful that my son is alive somewhere and he needs to be found,” said Anil in a choked voice.

The victim’s father and his relatives are now planning to approach the Punjab and Haryana High court, where they would demand that investigation be handed over to some senior police officials or a special investigation team (SIT) be formed.

On the other hand, Pawan Kumar, SHO, Zirakpur, said, “We have been looking for the youth since he went missing. We are doing all that we can do,” added the SHO.
