A local court today acquitted two brothers in a sexual harassment case.

Defence counsel IS Gujral said the complainant never appeared in the court despite several reminders sent to her.

In a complaint to the Maloya police on May 15, 2016, the victim’s brother had stated that Gurpreet Singh and his brother Jaswinder Singh waylaid his sister in a street and also thrashed her. On reaching home, she told him that the brother duo had also molested her.

Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 323, 341 and 354 of the IPC against Gurpreet Singh and Jaswinder Singh and arrested them.
