New Delhi, February 25

Lt Governor of New Delhi, Anil Baijal addressed the seventh legislative assembly on Tuesday.

He was addressing the Assembly for the first time post Delhi elections.

In his inaugural session, the Lt Governor highlighted the focus of last government. He said, " The government focused on basic needs of citizens, such as water, electricity, education, free bus ride for women among others."

He also spoke about the commitments of the present government such as making national capital on a par with world class cities, piped drinking water to every household, improving education, as well as advanced healthcare. He said, "We have to balance development with the environment...the government will put in plan to reduce pollution to one third. The work will be directed for a cleaner Yamuna."

He also highlighted other plans of the government in his address. The legislative assembly began yesterday and 70 MLA took oath.
