The response to the Interim Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today was marked by contrasting reactions from the Delhi BJP and Delhi Congress.

AAP slams Centre

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) criticised the Union Budget terming it as ‘jumla’ of the Centre on Thursday. AAP leader Atishi said, “The Budget proves that this is a ‘jumla’ government. PM Modi had said in 2014 that he would provide 2 crore jobs every year but in 10 years not even one crore people got jobs.”

While Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva expressed his satisfaction over the budget, lauding it as a manifestation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary ‘Amrit Kaal’, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Arvinder Singh Lovely expressed his disappointment over the Budget.

Sachdeva highlighted India’s economic growth under the Modi government, propelling it to become the fifth-largest economy within a decade. He commended the budget's focus on the poor, youth, farmers, and women, outlining a vision for a developed India by 2047.

While Lovely emphasised the lack of relief for various sectors, including job seekers, businesses, entrepreneurs, women, farmers and the impoverished, a statement contradictory to the BJP’s stance. He criticised the BJP government for what he perceived as a lack of interest in addressing public concerns, even in the pre-election interim budget. Lovely took a swipe at the Modi government, accusing it of dashing the public’s hopes during its 10 years in power.
