People of Doda district on Friday expressed their anger against the proposed opening of a bar in Doda town and passed resolutions in every mosque across the district during the Friday prayers to show their resentment.

Thousands of people asked the district administration not to give permission for opening of the bar.

A joint resolution of the seerat committee, Doda, Ajuman-e-Islamia, Bhaderwah, seerat committee, Thathri, and seerat committee, Bhalessa, said the people of Doda district had always opposed any such attempt of opening a bar or wine shop in Doda as it was the worst evil in any society.

The resolution said the Doda district administration must take care of the sentiments of people and not allow anyone to open such shop which could cause distress in society.As per official sources, a person from the Bhalessa area of Doda district has applied with the Deputy Commissioner’s office for a no-objection certificate to open a bar and restaurant near the police lines in Doda.
