Panipat, February 11

A 49-year-old man was beaten to death allegedly by his neighbour after a fight broke out between them on Saturday evening.

The deceased was identified as Dilawar Singh, a resident of Arjun Nagar. He used to work as a plumber. The deceased’s wife, Sudesh, said she had gone to attend a wedding and their two sons were also not at home when the incident took place. Dilwar and his neighbour Jagdish were drinking alcohol together at the former’s home when a fight broke out between them.

When Dilawar’s wife returned home, she saw him writhing in pain. They gave him a pain relief tablet, but his condition did not improve. He was taken to a private hospital the next morning, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Inspector Sunil said accused Jagdish has been booked under Section 302 of the IPC. Investigations were underway and the accused would be arrested soon. —TNS
