Gurugram: Additional Sessions Judge Suruchi Attreja on Friday rejected the anticipatory bail application filed by three senior journalists accused of sexually harassing a woman journalist of a leading daily. In a complaint to the police last week, the victim had accused her former boss Rashpal Bhardwaj of constantly making sexual advances at her since 2016. She alleged Bhardwaj had defamed her on social media after she left her job. The other two accused, heading local bureaus of leading Hindi dailies, allegedly conspired with Bhardwaj in harassing and defaming her. In a statement before the magistrate, the victim had alleged political pressure to withdraw the complaint. TNS
Sugar mills owe Rs 625 crore to farmers
Chandigarh: The Haryana Government takes pride in becoming the first state in the country to set up a dedicated authority for the welfare of famers - Kisan Kalyan Pradhikaran - and paying the highest price of sugarcane at Rs 340 per quintal. This was pointed out during the Question Hour in the Assembly on Thursday. But it also came to light that sugar mills in Haryana owe Rs 625 crore to farmers for 2018-19. Minister of State for Co-operation Manish Grover on Friday said, "The dues are for the current season. There is no outstanding amount for the previous years." Leader of Opposition Abhay Chautala also flagged the matter in the Assembly on Friday during his argument on the Governor's Address. Co-operative sugar mills owe Rs 343.89 crore to famers, while private sugar mills owe Rs 281.21 crore. TNS
