Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Kumari Selja today said that the BJP-led government was betraying the people and making a mockery of the miserable condition of farmers and labourers.

Addressing party workers during the Congress Sandesh Yatra in Bhiwani district today, she said the BJP was adopting a dual character. On the one hand it talked about Lord Ram and on the other hand it indulged in politics on Ram. Targeting the BJP, she said, “Humanity is being hurt by resorting to discrimination on the basis of caste, religion and language. They are not maintaining values and dignity of Lord Ram’s dignified rule.” She said the country would see real progress only when prosperity would reach every section, including labourers and farmers.

“Ever-growing figures of unemployment have exposed the job scenario in the state. Educated youths seem helpless and depressed due to the failure of the government in creating jobs,” she alleged. Selja along with Tosham MLA Kiran Choudhary and her daughter former Bhiwani-Mahendragarh MP Shruti Choudhary resumed the Congress Sandesh Yatra from Baund village in Bhiwani district today.

Recalling the contribution of former CM Bansi Lal, Selja said his vision of development of the Bhiwani area still inspired them. “We are here with a promise to usher in a new era of development and good governance,” she said.

Selja said Rahul Gandhi inspired them to take out the Congress Sandesh Yatra. “It is for all of us to work for the welfare of the state and the nation. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has said that we have to continue our struggle until the poorest of the poor get their share in development,” she said.

“Today, Haryana is number one in unemployment as the government jobs are being auctioned,” she said.

Tosham MLA Kiran Choudhary said, “This area has been discriminated against by the people sitting in the government over the years.”
