Canine threat looms large

Panchkula: The problem of stray dogs has assumed alarming proportions in Panchkula. Their latest victim happens to be a man who was attacked in Sector 7. Moreover, the non-availability of the requisite vaccine at the General Hospital in Sector 6 adds to patients’ woes. The MC has failed to effectively tackle the menace. These stray dogs are a potent threat not only to unsuspecting residents, but also to environment as they freely defecate in public parks and other places.— SK Gupta

Street in poor condition

Ambala: Underground drainage pipes were laid in Ward no.14 four months ago following which the street on which the work was undertaken had to be repaired. However, its condition has now turned bad. There is nobody to look into the issue in the MC and repeated requests have fallen on deaf ears. There have been instances where children and two-wheeler drivers have slipped owing to the bad condition of roads. Many parts of the street where the pipeline was laid have been left unattended by the contractor.

Gutter left open

Faridabad: A gutter line has been dug up and left open for the last four days in Sector 8 opposite Milan Sweets, exposing officials’ apathy towards civic issues. Due to this, locals and commuters have to face a lot of problems. It has become a man-made sewer beach in the heart of Faridabad. –Roopa

No end to Stray animal menace

Panipat: The increasing number of stray animals in the city has become a serious problem. The administration has failed to take steps to tackle the stray animal menace. Apart from city roads, a large number of stray animals can be seen roaming on highways. This has also led to an increase in accidents. Three stray animals have died in accidents in the last few days. Residents’ welfare association members have raised the issue with the authority concerned, but to no avail.
