Farmers set to mark one year of stir



Sonepat, November 22

Farmer leaders today said preparations to mark the first anniversary of the farmers’ movement on November 26 were in full swing. Thousands of farmers from Punjab and Haryana will arrive at Singhu and Tikri to mark the day.

Besides, a group of youths from Tamil Nadu also reached the borders today.

“After the Prime Minister’s announcement to repeal the three farm laws, farmers are very excited to reach Delhi borders to mark the first anniversary,” said Kulwant Singh Sandhu, general secretary, Jamhuri Kisan Sabha, Punjab, adding that the sabha had given an open call to farmers in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand to reach Delhi borders on November 26, he added.

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha has also assigned the duties to leaders to mobilise the maximum number of the farmers at the border. —TNS
