Rohtak, February 8
The body of a 19-year-old girl, hailing from a village in Jhajjar district, was found on the Rohtak-Jind rail line near Singhpura village here on Tuesday night. The Government Railway Police (GRP) have booked a case of rape, abduction and murder against two youths of the same village on the complaint of the family members of the deceased.
The family members also met Inspector General of Police (IGP), Rohtak Range, and asked him to ensure the arrest of the suspects at the earliest. They also accused the GRP of not taking prompt action in the case.
“We received information from the police control room that the body of a woman was found lying on the Rohtak-Jind rail track. Our team rushed to the spot and found the body in parts there. She was identified from the documents found in her bag lying on the spot,” said Balwan Singh, Sub-Inspector of the GRP.
He added that her family members were informed about the incident, who lodged a complaint against two youths of the same village yesterday, alleging that they first abducted the girl and then raped and murdered her, before dumping the body on the railway track.
GRP SHO Sheotaz Singh said the body has been handed over to the family.
