The Haryana Government has ordered that employees facing charges in a court of law for crime against women — such as dowry death, rape, sexual harassment and acid attack, or under the POCSO Act — would lose government benefits, including social pension.

It has asked all deputy commissioners to prepare lists of employees already chargesheeted during the current calendar year up to  June 30 and ensure that all benefits to them are immediately suspended.

“A confirmation report shall be sent to the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) by August 31,” the state government order reads.

Last month, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had announced that except for ration, those accused of crime against women would be debarred from government facilities, including  old-age pension, driver’s licence and arms licences. He had cited the spiralling crime graph for such a move. — TNS
