In a shocking incident, the police have booked a man in connection with the rape of his 16-year-old daughter in a village in the district.

According to a complaint lodged by the wife of the accused and the mother of the victim, the accused aged around 46 years had been sexually exploiting their daughter, who is a student of Class IX. It is claimed that the victim told her mother that her father had been sexually exploiting her for the past three to four years. The matter surfaced after the accused tried to molest her on October 3, when her mother, who is a daily wager had gone to work and the accused was at home. The younger sister of the victim saw the incident and told her mother about it, who lodged a complaint with the police on Friday.

The accused used to sexually exploit the girl on pretext of coaching her in her studies and had threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed the matter to any one, it is alleged in the FIR. The accused is the father of three children, including a son and two daughters. The victim is the eldest of the two daughters.

“We have booked him and launched a hunt to nab the culprit,’’ said a police official.
