A 35-year-old resident allegedly killed his father after hitting him with a brick at their home in the district’s Dundahera town on Wednesday, the police have said.

The accused, identified as Deva, alias Devanand, was arrested and booked for murder. His family said he was mentally disturbed.

The deceased, Dharambeer, had retired from Haryana Roadways. He drove an auto-rickshaw after retirement.

“On Monday morning, my husband went to his room in the backyard when Deva hit him several times with a brick on his head and chin. My husband died on the spot due to excessive bleeding,” Dharambeer’s wife Santosh said in her complaint.

“The accused have confessed to having killed his father,” said Inspector Satbeer Singh, SHO, Udyog Vihar police station.
