A formal split in the Indian National Lok Dal seems inevitable as Dabwali MLA Naina Singh Chautala on Friday left no one in doubt about the future plans of her husband Ajay Singh Chautala and sons Dushyant Singh and Digvijay Singh, when she said that they would be among people with a new flag on Saturday.

Naina Singh, who was addressing an all-women rally “Hari Chunri Ki Chaupal” at Jamal village in her brother-in-law Abhay Singh Chautala’s Ellenabad Assembly segment, also launched a scathing attack against the Leader of Opposition.

Accusing Abhay Singh of scolding party workers who used to participate in Dushyant and Digvijay’s programmes or her “Hari Chunri Ki Chaupal” during the past two-and-a-half years, Naina Singh told the crowd that they had endured a lot and were all independent now and can participate in rallies without fear of “humiliation”.

“Kal se naya danda hoga aur naya jhanda hoga (from tomorrow, we will have a new stick and a new flag in it),” she told women while appealing them to participate in the Jind meeting convened by Ajay Singh on Saturday.

Ridiculing Abhay Singh for sending his MLAs to a hill resort for the fear of losing them to Ajay Singh, Naina Singh asked how long they will stay in Himachal, as they will have to eventually come to people to seek votes.

Reacting to Abhay Singh’s statement that he was senior to his elder brother in Haryana politics and had won several electoral battles for the party by standing in the background, the Dabwali MLA asked why he (Abhay) could not bring the INLD to power in 2014 when he had no competitor for CM’s posts, as Chautala and Ajay were in jail and Dushyant was too young for this.

Terming her husband Ajay Singh as an epitome of patience and tolerance, Naina Singh said Abhay was lucky that he got a brother like her husband who kept listening complaints of maltreatment of his family and supporters patiently for two-and-a-half years. “Keeping quiet is our culture, but it was perceived as our weakness. But now, when they have expelled us from the party under a conspiracy, we have been forced to speak,” she added.
