Rohtak girl bags 40th rank in UGC-NET

Rohtak: Komal Kaushik, an alumnus of Gaur Brahman Degree College, secured the 40th rank in the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET), along with a junior research fellowship (JRF) in Physics. A resident of Kahnaur village in Rohtak district, Komal is the daughter of Dr Rajender Kaushik, the principal at a private college, and Kalanaur Block Samiti member Kamna Kaushik. Gaur Brahman Degree College principal Jaipal Sharma felicitated Komal on her achievement. Komal attributed her success to her parents and teachers, stating that she had relied on self-study to take the exam.

Advertisement contest held

Karnal: The commerce association of Dyal Singh College, Karnal, organised an intra-college ad-masters competition, in which 25 students participated. The participants were asked to create advertising campaigns for real-world scenarios, testing their ability to innovate under pressure and deliver compelling marketing solutions. The competition was conducted in two rounds. In the first round, the participants advertised the product of their choice, and in the second round, they advertised the product that the organiser provided on the spot. Dr Mukta Jain and Dr Pooja Malhotra from the commerce department were the judges of the contest. Manan (BCom 6th semester) secured the first position, Shrishti (BA 4th semester) remained at the second position, Bodhita (BCom 6th semester) got the third position and Sidhi (BCom 4th semester) got the consolation prize. College principal Ashima Gakhar appreciated the efforts of organisers.

Lecture on Sankalp Diwas

Sonepat: A guest lecture on Sankalp Diwas was organised jointly by Dean, Student Welfare Office, of Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya (BPSMV) and the Haryana Chapter of Ladakh and Jammu Kashmir Study Centre. Centre’s member and senior research fellow at Asian Eurasian Human Rights Forum, Nidhi Bahuguna, delivered a thought-provoking keynote address. She shared insights on the various territories occupied by neighbouring countries and perspectives on critical challenges facing the regions. Secretary, Haryana Chapter, Dr Vivek Balyan, shed light on the various issues related to the illegally occupied territories of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions of India as well as the hospitality and tourism potentials of these areas. Programme coordinator Dr Jagbir Dalal expressed the vote of thanks.
