Teenager gangraped in Rohtak; 4 arrested

ROHTAK: A 16-year-old girl from West Bengal was allegedly kidnapped and gangraped by four youths of Bohar village in the district on Thursday.

A 16-year-old girl from West Bengal was allegedly kidnapped and gangraped by four youths of Bohar village in the district on Thursday. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) led DSP Mamta Kharab has arrested four youths in this regard.

Kharab told The Tribune here on Friday the girl had gone to Tilyar Lake located on the outskirts of Rohtak town along with a youth from Bihar on Thursday. There, two youths of Bohar village were reportedly consuming liquor.

“The youths allegedly assaulted the Bihar youth and abducted the girl. They allegedly took her to a secluded spot and raped her. They were later joined by two other youths (also from Bohar village), who also allegedly raped the girl. They later abandoned the girl and fled,” the DSP said.

The girl later told the police about her ordeal. The police got the girl medically examined and got her statement recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC.

The girl has been handed over to her family after her counselling. Her parents work as labourers here.

After the two youths forcibly took away the girl, Ajay from Bihar informed the police. The girl’s mother had lodged a police complaint, stating that her daughter had gone missing.

The arrested youths have been identified as Vipin alias Monu, Pravesh alias Sonu, Neeraj alias Neetu and Ajay.

“Ajay is being interrogated to get to the bottom of the matter,” the DSP said, adding raids were being conducted to arrest the fourth youth from Bohar allegedly involved in the gangrape.
