Narnaul, November 19

All eight accused in the Rewari gang-rape case were produced in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Anil Kumar in Narnaul on Monday.

Three doctors, who conducted the medico-legal examination of the accused, were also called in the court today for cross-examination. These doctors were posted at the government hospital in Kanina, Rewari and Mahendragarh city at that time. The court has now fixed December 4 as the next date of the hearing.

Karan Singh Yadav, counsel of the victim, said some more witnesses had been summoned on December 4, while the victim had identified five of the eight accused on the previous date of hearing on November 4.

“In her statement on November 4, she had told the court that Nishu Phoghat, Pankaj Fouzi, Manish, Naveen, alias Nikku, and medical practitioner Sanjeev Kumar were present at the crime spot,” the counsel added.

Nishu, Pankaj and Manish are the prime accused in the case. Nikku and Sanjeev have been facing charges under Sections 202 and 118 of the IPC, respectively.

Deen Dayal, owner of the tubewell room where the crime was committed, has been charged with concealing the crime and conspiracy, while Manish’s relatives Abhishek and Manjeet have been facing the charges of giving shelter to Pankaj and Manish after the crime.

The 19-year-old college girl was abducted and raped when she was on her way to a coaching centre in Kanina on September 12. A Zero FIR was booked at the women’s police station in Rewari on September 13.
