Acrimonious scenes were witnessed in the Assembly on Friday over the discussion on the Governor’s Address. Congress MLA Karan Singh Dalal levelled corruption charges against Minister of Co-operation Manish Grover over the appointment of Veer Singh as the Managing Director in his department.

When Grover and BJP MLAs were rebutting allegations, former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda suddenly stood up and said turning to CM Manohar Lal Khattar, “Tell me which jail shall I go to. The CM has been giving statements that one CM has gone to jail and the other will follow suit.”

Dalal, meanwhile, alleged anomalies in recruitment in the Transport Department.

Hooda called for a CBI inquiry into the death of a veterinary doctor in Sonepat.

Leader of Opposition Abhay Singh Chautala flagged the construction of SYL canal in the Assembly. He said the CM should clarify how many times he had met PM Narendra Modi for the construction of the canal.

On recruitment in Group D category, he said the BJP government had termed it as a fair selection. “The selected candidates were either PhD or MPhil or MSc degree holders. And some had qualified the NET. These people were forced to apply for Group D jobs,” Abhay said. “The gardener in my house holds an MSc degree,” he told the House.

Abhay added the minimum qualification for these jobs was Class X. “Candidates who studied in village schools will never get these jobs,” he said.
