Highest-ever spike of 397 cases in Himachal Pradesh

In a big surge, the state witnessed the highest-ever single-day spike of 397 positive cases, besides one death in Una, taking the tally to 7,415 and 53 deaths.

The highest number of 68 cases were reported in Kullu, 60 in Kangra, 57 in Solan, 52 in Chamba, 40 in Mandi, 31 each in Shimla and Bilaspur, 22 in Sirmaur, 20 in Hamirpur and 16 in Una. The number of active cases was 2,176.

60 test +ve in Kangra

Sixty persons tested positive for Covid-19 in Kangra today, taking the total number of cases in the district to 1,091, including 326 active cases. Those who tested positive include two health personnel from the Tanda medical college, one from Palampur, three residents of Borderballa village near Kangra and five from Kangra town.

3 cops infected in Solan

Two medical officers, a councillor and three policemen were among 57 cases reported in the district. Most patients had influenza-like illness. Medical Officer, Solan, Dr NK Gupta said nine cases were reported from the Kotbeja area in Kasauli tehsil, 10 from Solan, including a medical officer, and two from the regional hospital, Solan. One case was reported from the MMU medical college, Kumarhatti while 10 patients were from Parwanoo. There is no let-up in a surge in cases in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh area, where 26 persons were found infected. A Home Guard personnal from the women’s police station, Baddi, a policeman from the Barotiwala police station and a medical officer from the CHC, Nalagarh, were among those found positive.

22 cases in Sirmaur

Twenty two people tested positive for Covid in Sirmaur. They include six persons from Thanda, Pratab Bhawan, Chakreda and local medical college at Nahan, 13 from Badripur, Adarsh Colony, Purruwala, Surya Colony, Gujjar Colony, Rampurghat, Ajeet Colony, Devinagar and Rajban in Paonta Sahib and three from Sarahan.

Patient operated for fracture

A doctor at the Nerchowk medical college successfully operated upon a Covid patient. A 17-year-old boy from Hamirpur had a fracture in his right little finger. He was referred from the Hamirpur medical college to Mandi. Dr Lokesh Gupta said it was a 15-minute surgery in which a fixator was applied to the boy’s finger.
