Dharamsala, November 6

National and international business delegates arrived at Dharamsala today for the investors’ meet. The business delegates met Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, ministers and secretaries of various departments at Connifer Hotel.

The business delegates were brought in from helicopter from Chandigarh and taken to their hotels in luxury cars provided by the state government. At Gaggal airport, the visiting delegates were extended traditional welcome.

Prominent business delegates who arrived here today included BR Shetty and his daughter Reema Shetty. BR Shetty is an Indian businessman based in the UAE and is the chairman of BRS Ventures. He is also the of founder Abu Dhabi-based NMC Health Care. His daughter is director of the company. He is among 100 richest Indians as per the Forbes list. He met minister and secretaries of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, agriculture, education and industries.

Manoj Chugh, president, group public affairs of Mahindra group, met the secretaries of finance, transport and agriculture.

Dr Christtian Garbe, MD of FIZ Frankfurter, Innovations, met the secretaries of ayurveda and industry.

A delegation from the embassy of Vietnam met secretaries of various departments to explore possibilities of investment.

The business delegates who arrived today include Balkrishan Singh, executive vice president, Ayana Holdings. The group intends to invest in tourism and civil aviation department.

AV Ananth, Director, LuLu group, has shown interest in investment in housing, tourism and civil avaiation sectors.

Jawed Jia, vice-president, Abbott Pharma, met the Secretary, Industries. The group already has its unit in Baddi industrial area of Solan district.

Vikas Chaturvedi, chairman, ASSOCHAM, held deliberations with secretaries of almost all the departments. Amit Aggarwal, senior vice-president, Amazon India, met Secretary, Industries. Satish Batra, president, Horizon group, met Secretary, Industries and Transport and proposed investments in various sectors.

NL Sharma, chairman and managing director of SJVN, met Secretary, Power. The SJVN is a public sector power company located in Himachal.

TR Kishore Nair, Director, Avaada Power, has proposed investments in multipurpose power projects.

Avi Peled, chairman and CEO Puremagics, met Secretary Industries and ayurveda. The group proposes investments in the said sectors.

Satish Maparea, founder of Globe Apex, met Secretary, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

Abdul Salam, Director General, UAE-India Business Council, met the secretary and Sanjay Ganjoo, secretary, PIOCCI, met various heads of department.

Sources here said many delegates and union ministers are scheduled to arrive early tomorrow morning. The state government is expecting 1,700 business delegate for the event.

Brand ambassador Yami reaches too

Actor Yami Gautam, the brand ambassador for the investors’ meet, also arrived in Dharamsala in the evening. She is likely to appear on stage with the Prime Minister and at other events.
