Shimla, November 19

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur offered a floral tribute to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 102nd birth anniversary at her statue on The Ridge here today.

Karsog MLA Hira Lal, Shimla Mayor Kusum Sadret, Deputy Mayor Rakesh Sharma, Commissioner Pankaj Rai, councillors and senior civil and police officers were also present besides schoolchildren. Patriotic songs were also sung by artistes of the Information and Public Relations Department.

Various Congress leaders also paid tributes to Indira Gandhi at the party headquarters Rajiv Bhawan.

Hamirpur: Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was a brave woman who sacrificed her life for the country. This was stated by Deepak Sharma, spokesperson of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee. He said the country could never overlook the sacrifice made by her.

Kangra: Floral tributes were paid to the former Prime Minister at Lipyana village in Shahpur today. The programme was organised by the Congress committee of Rait block.

Kewal Singh Pathania, state Congress committee general secretary, addressed a gathering and lauded her enormous contribution to the nation. He said one of the tallest leaders of the world, Indira Gandhi had given her last drop of blood for the integrity and sovereignty of the country.

She had taken decisions of prime importance without looking for political consequences. A large number of workers and office-bearers paid floral tributes to Indira Gandhi.
