SHIMLA: In a day-long protest, dairy farmers led by Theog legislator Rakesh Singha on Monday gheraoed the Duttnagar Milkfed plant near Rampur Bushair and demanded the minimum support price of Rs 30 per litre.

In a day-long protest, dairy farmers led by Theog legislator Rakesh Singha on Monday gheraoed the Duttnagar Milkfed plant near Rampur Bushair and demanded the minimum support price of Rs 30 per litre.

The farmers from Mandi, Kullu, Shimla and Kinnaur participated in the protest at Duttnagar and raised anti-government slogans. The protest will continue till the government raises the price of milk, Singha said. After the protest, members of the Himachal Kisan Sabha met DC, Shimla, Amit Kashyap and submitted a charter of demands to the Chief Minister through him. The milk was being sold cheaper than the bottled water, said district president, Kisan Sabha Satyavan Pundir. — TNS
