Solan, November 22
To ensure planned and sustainable development of Solan district that is witnessing rapid urbanisation, the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department will prepare a plan soon.
The idea is to ensure the optimum utilisation of infrastructure and settlement growth across a large chunk of land than an individual city or town, said Solan DC KC Chaman who convened a meeting yesterday, wherein officials of Gurgaon-based Feedback Infra Pvt Ltd, who is to prepare the plan, were also present.
Solan and Lahaul-Spiti are the two districts in the state where such plans are being prepared. Having an area of 1,936 sq km with nine tehsils and sub-tehsils, five development blocks and 2,383 inhabited villages, the district has 211 panchayats and eight urban civic bodies. It has a population of 5,80,320.
“Keeping in view the public needs and aspirations and to sustain a robust economy having diversified livelihood opportunities, a regional plan will be chalked out. It will ensure a balanced growth while leveraging local resources and skills and having access to quality infrastructure, the DC said. — TNS
