DHARAMSALA:Recruitment test for 220 posts of patwari, held last week, attracted 74,169 applications in Kangra district, indicating a high rate of unemployment in the region.

Recruitment test for 220 posts of patwari, held last week, attracted 74,169 applications in Kangra district,  indicating a high rate of unemployment in the region.

The minimum qualification was plus two and salary Rs 10,000. Among the applicants were graduates, postgraduates and those with doctorate. 

Kangra Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati said 71,045 applications had been accepted. The test was conducted at 254 centres across the state and the result would be declared at Shimla. Data shows the most-populated district in the state is the worst-hit by joblessness. There is no major industrial unit in the district.
