KANGRA: A declamation and poem recitation contest was held at MCM DAV College, here on Saturday, in which 20 students participated.

A declamation and poem recitation contest was held at MCM DAV College, here on Saturday, in which 20 students participated.

The participants spoke on a wide range of topics covering environment pollution, female foeticide, how social is our youth in the age of social media, digital India, save girl child, craze of selfies and India of my dreams.

Shreya and Satvik secured first position. Satvik spoke brilliantly on the growing craze of selfies and how people were getting killed taking selfies, recklessly. Shreya spoke on life is nothing but an art to overcome difficulties and face the challenges boldly.

Tarush Mahajan and Ashima secured second place. Speaking on Digital India,Tarush said the technology had revolutionised all aspects of life and the world had become a global village. Ashima said the youth should use social media cautiously and rationally.

Purit, Divya, Shivang and Pavitra came third. Principal Dr Baljeet Singh Patial distributed the prizes to the winners. He said participation in such events made students confident to face interviews later on in life.
