Jammu, June 13

Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy on Sunday said the renewed focus would be shifted towards the development of J&K to fulfil the aspirations of the people after the ongoing fight against the Covid pandemic is won by the country, officials said.

The minister said the country’s security scenario had improved manifold over the past two years with better law and order situation and a declining trend in the incidents of terror and left wing extremism.

PM for equitable growth

PM Narendra Modi is taking personal interest in the equitable development of J&K and the government takes all care to ensure every region gets its share of central resources, Union Minister Jitendra Singh has said. He was at the stone-laying ceremony of Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple. PTI

He was taking part in the ‘Bhoomi Pooja’ in connection with the foundation stone-laying ceremony of Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple at Majeen here. On April 1, J&K administrative council headed by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had approved a proposal to allot land to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) for building a temple and its allied infrastructure on lease basis for a period of 40 years.

He noted that the security scenario in the Union Territory had been improving due to the efforts of the Centre.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, describing the ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ ceremony of the temple as a “historic and proud day” for J&K, said the temple was expected to be constructed in 18 months in two phases at a cost of Rs 33.22 crore. Sinha said the construction of the temple would open up opportunities across sectors and certainly change the economy of the region.
