Jammu, January 21
Udhampur police have apprehended a Myanmar national, identified as Mohammad Shah Jalal, for illegally entering and residing in India without a passport or valid documents.
According to an official statement, Jalal, a resident of Myanmar’s Kakar Bazar district, had crossed the international border into India without proper documentation. He was found residing in Kallar village of Udhampur.
Based on this information, an FIR was registered under Section 14-A of the Foreigners Act, 1946. During the course of investigation, the police raided Jalal’s residence in Karlai Kangloo, a locality within Kallar. Jalal was subsequently arrested and during questioning, confessed to residing in the house of one Ved Parakash for the past month.
Ved Prakash has been booked in a separate FIR IPC for providing shelter to Jalal without conducting any legal verification from the police station.
