24-yr-old youth gunned down

Jalandhar, February 21

A 24-year-old youth was gunned down by unidentified persons at Ganna Pind, in Phillaur late on Thursday evening. Identified as Ram Pal (24), the youth had been coming to a local salon in Phillaur to learn haircutting. He was reportedly shot by unidentified assailants as he was walking out of the salon. The police said the body of Ram Pal was sent for a post-mortem examination at the Jalandhar Civil Hospital.

A case has been registered against the unidentified persons under Section 302 of the IPC and Arms Act. SHO of the Phillaur police station said: “As per preliminary reports, the youth was reportedly intimate with the niece of the salon owner. The police are on the lookout of the culprits.” — TNS
