Two days after losing the Lok Sabha elections from here, SAD candidate and former Vidhan Sabha deputy speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal today thanked SAD-BJP workers and supporters.

While addressing a gathering held at City Garden, Atwal turned a bit emotional saying that: “Since Jalandhar voters did not lead him to victory, the verdict led him to think that there is some shortcoming in him. I take the entire responsibility for the defeat on myself. But I wish to thank every voter, SAD and BJP supporters who came in my support.”

A resident of Ludhiana, he said: “I will remain at your beck and call and will turn up whenever you call me for any help. I will be a part of every moment of joy and sadness in your lives.” Others who spoke up at the event were BJP district presidents Raman Pubby and Amarjit Singh Amri and SAD district presidents Kulwant Singh Manan and Gurpartap Wadala.

MLAs Pawan Tinu and Baldev Khaira, former MLAs KD Bhandari and Manoranjan Kalia were among those others present. — TNS
