Conductor killed as scooter hits tipper

Hoshiarpur, July 19

A conductor of a schoolbus was killed while driver was seriously injured near the Lachowal toll plaza on Hoshiarpur-Tanda Road early this morning.

They were on their way to Trinity School, Asalpur, school for duty on a scooter when their two-wheeler was hit by a tipper truck. Lovepreet Singh (22), a resident of Dhariwal village, who was working as a bus conductor at the school, died on the spot while bus driver Amarjeet Singh was injured.

After getting information, a police team from the Bullowal police station reached the spot and took the tipper driver, Bhupinder Singh, a resident of Dhuri, into custody. The police sent the body to the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Lovepreet was the youngest brother of five sisters. The police have registered an FIR against the tipper truck driver. — OC
