Cong leader passes away

PHAGWARA: Veteran Congress leader and councillor Gurbchan Singh Walia (74), opposition leader in Municipal Corporation, Phagwara, expired due to cardiac arrest on Monday evening. He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. His cremation will be held on Tuesday at 2 pm at Banga Road crematorium.Walia had suffered loss of vision in one eye after sustaining injury during a protest against the previous SAD-BJP government few years ago. Traditional healing session 

Jalandhar: A traditional healer from Solan-Vaidya Rajesh Kapoor-who is known to cure a lot of diseases, would be addressing a special session on holistic healing in Jalandhar on Tuesday. He would be addressing the causes of cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The beauty of his treatment is “no medicine”. He only believes in changing lifestyle and food habits to lead a healthy life. The workshop being organised by the Kheti Virasat Mission will be held at the Shiv Mandir, Mota Singh Nagar, Jalandhar. Man held on rape charge

Phagwara: The Government Railway Police (GRP) have arrested Mangal, a resident of Sugar Mills Colony, under Section 376 of the IPC on the charge of raping a minor girl, a few days ago. GRP Phagwara in charge Gurbheij Singh said Mangal was produced before the Judicial Magistrate on Monday who remanded him in judicial custody till July 30. OC
