DC visits Dhusi Bundh to review flood-control plan

KAPURTHALA: Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner DPS Kharbanda today conducted a tour of Dhusi Bundh, along with the Beas in the district, to review arrangements in wake of the coming rainy season. Accompanied by officers of the civil and police administration, the Deputy Commissioner visited the villages near Dhusi Bundh and inspected the arrangements for flood control.

Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner DPS Kharbanda today conducted a tour of Dhusi Bundh, along with the Beas in the district, to review arrangements in wake of the coming rainy season.

Accompanied by officers of the civil and police administration, the Deputy Commissioner visited the villages near Dhusi Bundh and inspected the arrangements for flood control.

He also asked officials to put in place a viable mechanism for completing all flood control arrangements before the advent of the rainy season.

He directed them to strengthen flood-prone sensitive places to minimise damage during the rains.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the officers to ensure that the residents of villages do not have to face any sort of problem in the coming days.

He interacted with villagers and assured full support and cooperation to them from the district administration.

State Disaster Response Force officers accompanying the Deputy Commissioner assured the latter that they would extend all possible help to the district administration whenever needed.

The Deputy Commissioner said the district administration had already made adequate arrangements to meet any sort of situation in the wake of rainy season.

He said evacuation plan, in case of flood, had already been finalised and sensitive places had been identified, along with safe places where residents of flood-prone areas would be shifted, if required.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by ADC (D) Avtar Singh Bhullar, sub-divisional magistrates Sakatar Singh Bal, Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa and Navneet Kaur Bal, Bholath ACP Nimrat Kaur, Sultanpur Lodhi DSP Vishaljeet Singh, District Revenue Officer Paramjit Singh Sahota, Civil Surgeon Dr Jasmeet Kaur Bawa and XEN Ajit Singh.
