Digital museum inaugurated to mark 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak

Lok Sabha MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary, along with MLAs Rajinder Beri and Avtar Singh Bawa Henry, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar and Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, inaugurated a three-day spiritual fest in form of a digital museum to showcase the life and philosophy of Guru Nanak via ultra-modern technology at Lyallpur Khalsa College here today.

People thronged the museum, which has eight galleries depicting various aspects of the life of Guru Nanak.

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said it was a humble effort of the Punjab government to commemorate the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak. He said the experience of one God, who is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and beyond all forms and names had been brought alive via the museum. The museum had brought together various technologies such as large format display (LFD) screens, radio frequency identified devices (RFID) headphones, immersive sublimation and a virtual reality (VR) experience.

He said Guru Nanak was one of the most well travelled persons of his times, as he spent almost 20 years of his life in travelling.

“The digital museum combines science, art, technology, design and images of Guru Nanak to create an immersive experience”, Sharma said, while exhorting people to visit the museum in large numbers and show support to the unique initiative of the state government.

The light and sound show would be presented before the people on October 16 and 17 from 7 pm to 7:45 pm and 8:30 pm to 9:15 pm, he said.
