The state Education Department has launched ‘Mission Cent Percent’ in order to motivate government school teachers to better their last year’s feat in board exam results.

During previous academic session, the school teachers had done exceptionally well to outsmart private schools in matriculation and XII PSEB examinations held in March 2019. The pass percentage of class X and XII classes was more than 80 per cent.

Now, the school teachers have virtually accepted the challenge to accomplish the Mission Cent Percent and have to achieve cent per cent results of classes V, VIII, X and XII as compared to last year’s results of board classes X and XII.

Divulging details, officials of the education department said, “The distinguishing feature of the ‘Mission Cent Percent’ is that it has entirely been conceptualised on the basis of principle of the success of democracy.”

“It is purely of the teachers, for the teachers and by the teachers. While the state Education Department has virtually been playing the role of facilitator as well as catalyst, the teams of dedicated teachers belonging to different subjects have been designing innovative activities, techniques, modules, sample question papers to enhance learning outcome to achieve desired results in the ensuing board examination”, they said.

They further said with the optimum utilisation of the social media groups, these requisite materials is being made available to the teachers and the students at the cutting edge level. The teams of Parho Punjab, Parhao Punjab, which included district mentors and block mentors of different subjects for the upper primary schools and BMTs and CMTs for the primary schools and Zila Shikhiya Sudhar teams have consistently been visiting schools to guide and motivate the teachers and the students, they added.

Meanwhile, when asked Harpreet Kaur, a government school teacher from Jalandhar about this mission, she said school teachers have enthusiastically been reciprocating the objective of ‘Mission Cent Percent’ in letter and spirit.

“The teachers have started taking extra classes not only during working days but also on Sundays and other holidays. Most of the school heads and teachers have mobilised community support to set up smart class rooms in the schools to ensure optimum use of e-content of the syllabus”, she said.
