Hoshiarpur pip Fatehgarh Sahib

HOSHIARPUR: In the first match of the Punjab Inter-District U-19 Cricket Tournament, Hoshiarpur won by earning 3 points while Fatehgarh Sahib managed to get 1 point.

In the first match of the Punjab Inter-District U-19 Cricket Tournament, Hoshiarpur won by earning 3 points while Fatehgarh Sahib managed to get 1 point. The match was played at Hoshiarpur District Cricket Association (HDCA) Ground, Railway Mandi.

Hoshiarpur won the toss and invited Fatehgarh Sahib to bat. Fatehgarh Sahib was all out for 77 runs in the first innings. Raghu took 5 wickets in 14 overs and took 6 wickets for 20 runs and Shashwat Tiwari took 3 wickets. Saksham Gupta of Fatehgarh Sahib scored 23 runs.

Batting in the first innings, Hoshiarpur scored 283 runs at the loss of 8 wickets and declared the innings. Bharatinder Saini contributed 88 runs, captain Raju Kumar Yadav scored 77 runs, Arsh Bhalla scored 45 runs and Karan Sharma contributed 26 runs in the innings for Hoshiarpur.

While bowling, Fatehgarh Sahib team’s Rimanjeet took 3, Janjit Singh got 2 wickets, Keshav Malhotra and Arshdeep took 1 wicket each.

Batting in the second innings, Fatehgarh Sahib scored 252 for 7 wickets. Devi Chand scored 185 runs in the second innings. While bowling, Raghu and Shashwat Tiwari of Hoshiarpur took 3 wickets each. Bharatinder Saini took 1 wicket.

HDCA secretary Raman Ghai told that since the match time ended without Hoshiarpur getting the chance to bat for the second innings. Hence match points were decided on the basis of the first innings. On the basis of the first innings, Hoshiarpur got 3 points and Fatehgarh Sahib got 1 point.

HDCA chairman Dr Daljit Singh Khela and Dr Pankaj Shiv, chairman, tournament committee, congratulated the team. Punjab Cricket Association’s selector Kuldeep Dhami, district coach Daljit Singh and Davinder Kaur, Balwinder Kumar and Harvinder Singh were present on the occasion.
