Phagwara, August 2

On a complaint lodged by a divorcee, the police on Monday registered a case against her ex-husband, Palwinder Kumar of Hardasspur village, on the charge of rape.

The victim told the police she was married to Palwinder on January 20 in 2020. She said as she could not migrate to the UK due to some technical reasons, they got divorced by mutual consent. After divorce, she went to Singapore for further study. She returned from Singapore on July 27 and the accused called her next day (July 28) and took her in a private room. She alleged the accused raped her forcibly and managed to escape. The accused is still at large, the police said.
