An awareness seminar on drug de-addiction was organised at SD Model School by Satyamev Jayate Society here today. Pankaj Sarpal, president of the society, while promoting ‘Say No to Drugs’ campaign stated that currently 20 per cent of states in the country are under the influence of intoxication. Among them, Punjab was on the top spot.
The young generation of the state contribute largely to the increasing rate of druggists. Sarpal said if children were taken care of at young age, they could be protected from the side effects of the drugs. He further appealed to citizens to come forward for the noble cause and extend their cooperation in spreading the campaign.
Benu Chopra, counsellor ‘Nasha Chudao Kendra’, further apprised the students of the different types of drugs and how it causes harm to the human body. She explained various type of remedies to avoid the drug- addiction and encouraged them to focus on their education and health to contribute for the development of the country.
ASI Shamsher Singh administered an oath to children that they would never consume drugs and even If they see someone consuming the drugs, they would encourage him to get treatment from the rehabilitation centres.
