Jalandhar, September 14

A day after the Excise Department seized 250 liquor cases from a farmhouse at Pholwaiwal village, SAD MLA Pawan Kumar Tinu on Friday demanded an enquiry into the matter.

He said a high-level inquiry should be ordered to find out from where the liquor came to the farmhouse.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Tinu, who was accompanied by SAD district urban president Kulwant Singh Manan and SAD leader Baljit Singh Neelamahal, said, “A huge amount of liquor cartons were found at the house of the Congress leader. The recovery of liquor from a Congress leader’s residence ahead of the elections means the ruling party is trying to influence the voters through liquor and drugs. Party members of the Chief Minister, who said he would eradicate drugs in four weeks, are being found complicit in the liquor trade.”

Tinu said, “A high-level enquiry should be conducted to ascertain from where the liquor come. There is also a need to investigate the officials and leaders, who are involved in the issue.”

Flaying the government to ban the SAD’s rally in Faridkot, Tinu said, “The Congress government’s decision to ban the party’s Faridkot rally is a violation of the Constitution and an attack on democracy. It showed that the government is resorting to dire measures ahead of the rural poll.”— TNS
