PHAGWARA: The Faculty of Hospitality, GNA University, organised a workshop on wine tasting, in collaboration with Sula Vineyards for the students of Hotel Management and Catering Technology today.

The Faculty of Hospitality, GNA University, organised a workshop on wine tasting, in collaboration with Sula Vineyards for the students of Hotel Management and Catering Technology today.

The workshop was hosted by Seema Trehan, representative of Sula Vineyards, as a sommelier. She shared her experience in guiding the students in sensory examination and evaluation of wines.

The sommelier made students understand the perceived flavors, aromas, characteristics of Rasa Shiraz (Red wine), Sauvignon blanc, and Chennin Blanc (White wines) and Sula Brut (Sparkling wine).

She discussed key points and steps in the testing: colour, swirl, smell, taste and savour. These are also known as “five S”; 1) , (SEE-II), (Swirl 3) (Sniff 4) Sip, Spin and Savour. Students discussed their doubts and queries. This workshop will apprise students of different types of wines and their serving techniques.

Chef Varinder Singh Rana, deputy dean,faculty of hospitality, applauded the efforts of the faculty members for organising the activity. He extended his gratitude to Seema Trehan.

Prof Dr VK Rattan, vice-chancellor, GNA University, congratulated the members of the Faculty of Hospitality for organising the event.

He said “Such kinds of events are the right steps for an organisation that continuously strives to be among the leading Hotel Management institute of India.”

Gurdeep Singh, pro chancellor, GNA University, appreciated the faculty to provide live demonstrations to budding professionals and to make them ready for global hospitality industry.
