Certificates awarded

A team led by Dinesh Gupta, secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu region, OP Gupta, chairman, Gram Vikas Sangh, J&K, Rajinder Singh and Kuldeep Singh, coordinators of Gram Vikas Sangh, awarded certificates to women who were provided training by Women Polytechnic College, Shiv Nagar, Jammu, under the Centrally sponsored scheme, Community Polytechnic in trade, stitching and fashion designing, at three centres, Jandial, Ranjan and Rabta of Bhalwal, district Jammu.

Anti-polythene awareness drive

In order to create awareness about the need to stop using polythene, High School, Balod, Samba, organised a programme for students. Students were apprised about the effects of plastic on environment. Students were urged to avoid using polythene and also talk to their families and neighbours about its ill-effects.

Books distributed in schools  

An NGO, 'Umeed Ek Pehel', under its literacy project held a books distribution camp at Government Girls High School, Kacchi Chawni. Books and other educational material like water bottles and school bags were distributed among the students belonging to economically weaker sections of society free of cost under the Chairmanship of Pankaj Gupta and Girish Sharma. About 50 students of Government Girls High School, Kacchi Chawni, were given stationery items, including bags and stationaries.

Workshop on cloud technology   

The TEQIP-III-sponsored one-week workshop on "AWS cloud technology" was held at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. The workshop is organised by the School of Electronics & Communication Engineering, SMVDU. The resource persons for the workshop were Dr Sateesh Kumar, IIT-Roorkee; Dr Karan Verma, NIT Delhi; Dr Rajiv Misra, IIT-Patna; Abhinav Kumar, Percona, US, and Bhuvan, L&T Infocom, Mumbai. Workshop coordinators Sachin Kumar Gupta and Vijay Kumar Sharma thanked Prof RK Sinha, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, for motivation and support.
