Student killed in Rajouri mishap

Rajouri, January 10

A Class X student was killed and three other persons were injured in road accidents in Rajouri district on Thursday.

The police said Aqib Shaikh, a resident of Ward No. 8 in Rajouri, was going to school on his friend’s scooter when it skidded near District Hospital, Rajouri, and both fell from the two wheeler. Aqib, who was riding pillion, was hit by a truck from behind and was critically injured. The policemen on duty on the road and people immediately shifted both to the hospital where doctors declared Aqib brought dead. He was a student of Dawn Public School. The police have registered a case and started investigation.

In another incident, three persons were injured when a bus and a truck collided head-on on a sharp curve near Narian village on the Jammu-Poonch highway. They were admitted to Sub-District Hospital, Nowshera. The police have booked both drivers and started investigation. — OC
